Leader’s Re-encounter Retreat

Evangel Tabernacle

April 5 – 6, 2012

It’s that time of the year again when traditionally our leaders and workers gather for a much needed break – and spiritual renewal. Much to our delight, we had the most wonderful of accommodations in what is known as Katamnan Resort, situated in Dumangas – which is about a 30 minute drive from the city. Surrounded by a lush landscape of greenery and trees dripping succulent fruits ripe for the picking (which we weren’t allowed to pick…sigh), dotted with quaint cottages, intersperse with a mini playground and zoo, with a swimming pool, in addition to amenities for rock climbing (not for the faint of heart)!

This year, over 130 of our work force came together in fellowship, devotion – and simply soaked in the spirit. Close to nature and away from the daily grind of existence, not only were we physically recharged, but in the tranquillity of our surroundings – we found our bearing yet again. It was in this atmosphere that we would hear God speak anew, and rekindle the lost fire not so much for ourselves – but for a lost world!

…was the major thrust of the two- day retreat. Pastor Tohnee and Pastor Lily conducted the power packed sessions side by side, and inspired by the lives of Gideon and Joshua. They were mere mortals whom God would uniquely empower in astonishing ways, making them parallel to history’s movers and shakers. Gathering much spiritual insight as how they accomplished the phenomenal takes us back to our core belief – it is only when we become the very person God wants us to become, consecrated and committed to His cause that we soar above who we are in all our human frailty, and take our rightful place as God’s envoys! Our destiny is to pursue God’s calling until we conquer the task bequeathed us. Inclusive of the mounting hurdles and constant obstacles before us – we pursue, overtake and settle for nothing short of victory!

The pursuit of victory however is a life of servitude and loyalty to the one who chose us and called us. In serving Him we find our true purpose, and in finding our purpose we gain the victory. Pastor Lily coined the phrase as giving God ‘Service Deluxe – the very best of ourselves in His service, and this realization enables us to live a full life in Christ Jesus. Just as the greatest of God’s men and women, in laying down their lives for His cause – they found their true destiny and fulfilled it. Let us in the same manner take up our stand as His loyal bondmen, pursuing godly intentions till we see God glorified through us and to all those around us. Let this be our finest hour!

God’s destiny await us, and much like Gideon we are exhorted to be as ‘mighty warriors in this time and age – and to make our mark in history as the heavens declare His impending coming. Let us then be challenged to take on our rightful place as God’s mighty men, and move to a higher plane of service, commitment and warfare!

It was in this atmosphere that God brought forth amongst His people the spirit of prophesy, while prophetically proclaiming His kingdom here on earth. His anointing fell upon us so strongly on the second day, endowing us with every spiritual gift and weapon to go forth in the power of His Spirit, and rightfully proclaim “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound…” Isa 61:1

… thus we were sent out and commissioned for such task, and in doing so we re-encountered the God of Abraham, Moses and Jacob – whose covenant is eternal and living, and whose cause is once more our own. There is much to be done in so short a time – but go we will to the ends of the earth to proclaim that God is with us!
